Of the approximately 9000+ species of birds, over 5000 of them are in the order called songbirds (Passeriformes). Songbirds include many birds who don't sing, such as the flycatchers, crows, jays, etc., but also includes species such as thrushes who are beautifull singers. Many of these species are migratory, so they spend their winter in Mexico, Central or South America, and come to the US to breed. |
