Pygmy Nuthatch
(Sitta pygmaea)
Photographed in Stateline, Nevada, by Jim Rosso

Pygmy Nuthatches are cavity nesters. The parents bring food in (top picture) and take fecal matter out (bottom picture). This pair of birds would arrive with food at the same time. One would feed the young while the other waited, and then after each had fed the young they would fly off together looking for more food.
