Rhinocerous Auklet
(Cerorhinca monocerata)
The picture on the left was photographed off the Washington coast by Don Johnson; the two other shots were shot in Monterey California by Jim Rosso.

The picture on the left is breeding plumage. The two pictures on the right are winter plumage. The middle picture shows an Auklet diving. Note that the wings are stretched out to help it "fly" under water.
